FAQ

Right. What’s all this, then?

“All this” is the website and blog for Encounter Table Games. This is where people come to find out what’s happening with the games I create, purchase them, and contribute to their development.

It looks pretty basic.

Well, yes. That’s because I’m one guy doing everything myself, while holding down a full-time job. I have to work in iterations as I develop the skill and resources to make things look lovely adequate. What you’re seeing is an early iteration of the site. Hopefully it’ll look better as time goes by. For now, though, I’m focusing on functionality over aesthetics.

Is that why there aren’t many pictures?

Yeah, pretty much. I’ll be adding them as I get more things that are worth showing off. You can expect to see product photos, component pictures, and maybe some concept art too!

Fair enough. How can I find out what you’re working on, and how much progress you’ve made?

Check out the blog articles! They’ll tell you what the situation is.

I was actually more interested in those games you were talking about.

Ah. Well, there’s a ‘Games’ page which will give you a brief description of the games. If you want to know more, follow the links on that page.

Hey, they sound pretty cool! How can I support them?

There’s a few ways for you to do that. To start with, you could sign up for updates on this site. The number of followers is one way I gauge how popular these games are, and the higher that number is the more motivated I am to crack on with things. I’m also always interested in people’s opinions, so commenting on things is a good way to show support too.

If you feel like taking a material step to support me, you could also send me a few bucks. Development takes money for materials and consumable stores, and although I try to cut costs as much as I can there are still lots of expenses. There are several payment options, for one-off payments or ongoing contributions. Whatever you choose, it’ll be a big help! Once the design of Close Encounters is finalised, I’m also considering a Kickstarter to cover the costs of scaling up production. Stay tuned!

Finally, you could always buy one of these games. I have a few pre-production copies available, and if/how they sell is an important data point for my plans. You can view and purchase my games at my online store.
