Close Encounters is the game that started all this off. Between 1 and 4 players can enjoy tense battles in abandoned tunnels between teams of mercenary troopers and a species of alien bugs. Quick to play, easy to learn, hard to master, Close Encounters always provides new challenges for its players.
The troopers must find their objectives on map tiles which are laid out as they explore. Although the troopers have weapons and tactics on their side, the bugs can make use of numbers and mobility to ambush them in the cramped corridors.
Close Encounters contains a set of random missions, as well as optional rules for balancing the game difficulty (or providing new challenges!). The possible combination of missions and optional rules, combined with the tile exploration mechanic, means no mission plays the same way twice. The included campaign book also lets players play story missions, to experience the first desperate encounters between the troopers and the bugs for themselves.
